Detroit MI -- To cap off their victorious 2003 race season, the GF / SPC Racing team gathered in Detroit over the weekend of January 23-25, 2004 for the Detroit Region SCCA awards banquet.  The club's very own Saturn SC2 took
top honors in the SCCA's CENDIV Improved Touring A class in 2003.

John, Chris, and Jon
John LeTourneau, Chris Berube, Jon Tapp accepting the award.

As you have probably read our prior race reports, Chris's real-life job is working for GM High Performance.  This weekend, Chris happened to have a Cadillac CTS-V sedan for our weekend transport and all we can say is WOW!

CTS-V front

An LS-6 V8 (similar to what powers the ZO-6 Corvette), rear wheel drive, 6 speed manual (only, no automatic is offered), and monster rubber make it clear that this is NOT your grandpa's Caddie.

CTS-V motor

Comfortable, scary quick, and the sound of a wicked, well-tuned V8.  Seeing the traction control engage in 3rd gear is a nice thing in our world.

After the awards banquet and time spent in our nice ride, the team began to plan strategy for the 2004 season.  Being the only Saturn to ever win the SCCA's Improved Touring A CENDIV points championship means that everybody else is now gunning for us.  Look for an ever faster car in 2004.

A special thanks to team driver Chris Berube, who was kind enough to host Deebs and Tapp at his home for the weekend.  The warmth and hospitality his entire family showed us was nothing short of stellar.

If you are interested in joining the team at the track or helping us prepare the ITA car for its title defense next season, please drop us an e-mail.
