Once you are finished reading it, you will see instructions on how to subscribe. The Saturn Performance Club mailing list exists to be a source of information for members and friends of the SPC, and strives to be a great resource in your pursuit of Saturn enjoyment. Everyone is welcome - Saturn ownership and club membership are not a requirement. Topics such as modification questions, motorsports participation, general maintenance, parts for sale / wanted, ownership experiences, events of interest, and other related subjects are considered appropriate posts to the list. We are very proud of the fact
that the majority of list members consistently conduct themselves in an
appropriate manner, keep the subject matter on-topic, and treat other
members with respect. Because of this, you will find that the conduct of
posters will be held to a higher standard than most mailing lists. Read
these rules and live by them, and it will make our mailing list even more
useful and enjoyable. General guidelines The SPC is first and foremost a club, and as such, you'll find a great deal of posts of a personal or social nature. If you are new to the list, please send us an e-mail and introduce yourself. Tell us a bit about yourself, the area where you're located, and what you drive. If you began receiving e-mail from this list due to recently signing up for club membership, we strongly urge you to stay subscribed. This list is the primary means by which we announce important club news & events and communicate with our members. Be courteous to other members and respectful of people's opinions, and go easy on the strong language (let's try to stay family-friendly). Remember that every word that you say in your posts will not only be read by hundreds of subscribers to the list, but it will likely be maintained in a public Internet archive for eternity. An archive of prior posts to the SPC list is viewable to non-subscribers and is searchable by several search engines. If you are replying to a prior message, please include some of the prior message's text so we know what the heck you're talking about. If you're replying to one message included in a digest, DO NOT send the entire digest to the list with your reply. Just cut and paste the appropriate section. Please attempt to limit your signature to three lines of text. There is no need to tell the entire list every part that's bolted on your car or every car you've ever owned eight times a day. Five coats of Fast & Furious green vinyl on your ride or indexing washers on your lawn tractor will not impress us. Keep it short and simple. Keeping your posts relatively
short and to the point means that more people will likely take the time to
read them. Re-read and think about what you've written before you press
send. Remember that on the Internet, people often judge you based on how you
present yourself and how & what you write. And unless you're an English
teacher or a writer, it's recommended that you use spelling & grammar
checking that is built into most e-mail clients. Trying to read pages of
text with no punctuation or capitalization is not very enjoyable. And if
your caps lock key is stuck on, most readers will ask you to get your
keyboard fixed before you post. Text in all caps is considered shouting in
the Internet world. Be aware of your tone, and be considerate to your
readers. Acceptable and unacceptable content Do not make blanket statements without citing supporting facts. Posting "KaleCo's muffler bearings are total crap!!", or "TotalStop brake pads are dangerous." means a whole lot more if you back it up with facts. Tell us why you feel the way you do. Attacks on individuals or companies who may or may not be on the mailing list are unacceptable (however, FACTUAL information regarding products or experience is allowed and encouraged). Posts that are directed to an individual member that do not pertain to the rest of the group should be sent off the list whenever possible. "Me too" or "LOL" one-liner posts also fall into this category. Please make an effort to also keep attitude and trash-talk to a minimum. And since we're a club that firmly believes in taking it to the track, those who wish to tell stories of street racing exploits may not find this to be a receptive audience. Do not send HTML or binary attachments (such as images and executables) to the mailing list. Be considerate and make sure your e-mail client does not send to the list in HTML format (many e-mail clients send in HTML format by default, so please check yours). Those receiving the list digest will see TONS of junk garbage text in the daily e-mail they receive for any attachments or HTML messages. If you do not know how to turn off HTML in your e-mail, educate yourself by doing a Google search on the topic for the particular e-mail client you are using. You can also consult its built-in or online help. It's also strongly recommended that you use anti-virus software on your PC. If you don't, any virus you receive may potentially e-mail itself to everyone in the group. List members
will be allowed one post per month listing any items wanted or for
sale. Got a set of sawtooth OEM wheels
you want to sell? We want to know! Have you listed some stuff on eBay to
help get you to our annual club Rally? Post it. If you are responding to any
for sale or wanted posts, be sure to do so off the list. This includes items
from individuals as well as commercial parts vendors. And if you're running
a business and choose to post or advertise on the list, it's expected that
you conduct yourself in a professional manner. Your comments not only
reflect on you, but on your business and its reputation. And remember the
part about past posts being archived and searchable forever. Disciplinary action The club's Board of Directors is a group of individuals that are responsible for the day-to-day operation of many club functions, and have the authority to act on the club's behalf. They do their best to use experience and sound judgement, without bias or grudges, to do what is in the club's best interest. In a situation where a list subscriber has posted outside of list guidelines, a Board member will usually send a friendly warning email. If the behavior continues, the Board will discuss the issue and decide on a course of action. At this point, the violation may result in temporary suspension of list privileges, and repeated violations may result in permanent removal. If the Board decides that someone is suspended or removed, the decision is final and there is no discussion or appeal. And permanent removal is permanent - that person may not re-join. Maintaining the integrity and quality of this mailing list is important to us, so please make sure that you understand and abide by the rules stated above. Doing so will ensure that this section will never apply to you. By clicking the link that follows, you certify that you have read and agree to all the rules listed above. Seriously - you better read them before you signify that you agree! To proceed to the subscription page, please click HERE. It will open in a new window.
