Dyno
testing a car costs money. All of the Saturn owners who have participated in our
club events and have chosen to dyno test their cars deserve our gratitude. For
sharing this information, we'd like to extend to them a big
Thank
You!
Without their continued efforts
toward improving their vehicles, and their need to objectively measure how changes affect
performance, more of us would be buying parts based on biased advertising claims, hearsay,
and faith.
Do you have parts that you'd like
dyno tested? The SPC will test products for FREE and will pay for return shipping.
This offer is for anyone (manufacturers or individuals) who wants to verify the
performance of any product. Please contact us and we will
happily arrange testing!
General
Testing Notes
Not clear on exactly what a chassis
dynamometer is and how it works? You can find everything you need to know in this article
that appeared in GM High-Tech Performance Magazine.
All dyno tests currently in the
archive were performed on a Dynojet Chassis Dynamometer. Most dyno testing takes
place at our club events or functions. Graphs and data that you see in the archive
were taken directly from the original data files using Dynojet WinPep 6.03 software with
the smoothing level set to 3.
The Dynojet equipment we most often
use can have difficulty with certain types of aftermarket plug wires. Because of
this, some graphs of the archived runs may show incomplete torque numbers or obviously
inaccurate torque readings. Horsepower numbers are not affected by this.
The graphs for some runs may show the
wrong torque scale (doubled or halved) due to software settings that were not set properly
during data acquisition. In this case, disregard the torque numbers from the graph
and refer to the numbers specified in the remarks.
The Dynojet software adjusts data at
the time of acquisition for variations in temperature, humidity, and elevation.
Don't put too much weight on
differences between runs of one or two horsepower. This is statistically
insignificant and within the dyno's threshold of error.
All vehicles in the dyno archive are
manual transmission unless specified otherwise in the notes section.
Note to dyno testers: Have
you found inaccurate / incomplete data or notes in the archive for your dyno runs?
Or would you prefer they be excluded, or your name made anonymous? Do you have
information to add that's not included? Contact us and
we'll be happy to make any changes.
